I have been making A LOT of ice cream this summer!! The funniest thing about my new obsession with homemade ice cream is I’ve never considered myself an ice cream person. We used to buy ice cream and it would sit in the freezer for a long time usually half buried beneath a million frozen bananas (does anyone else have a problem with bananas getting too ripe too fast?) and a few convenience foods (especially useful for feeding my family when I’m spending hours decorating cookies). And since it isn’t first choice of dessert, I would often forget it was even in there (why can’t I forget about the leftover cake that is in my freezer now…that would definitely be nicer on my waistline). Well, that is no longer the case! I now love ice cream–I’m not sure if it is because homemade tastes that much more amazing than store bought (although I think it does) or if it is because I can custom make it for our own tastes without having to spend a ton on some gourmet flavors.
I have really enjoyed using the recipe book that came with my Cuisinart ice cream maker. For my little girl’s party, I decided to try out the Fresh Strawberry Ice Cream (along with the S’more Ice Cream). I was very impressed with the resulting creamy strawberry delight! It was delicious! Definitely a keeper!
You can check out the recipe on the Cuisinart website. I won’t copy it here because I didn’t make any changes.

Raspberry Filled Chocolate Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting
oh my goodness – looks heavenly!
We love our Cuisinart, also–makes homemade ice cream a breeze! And dangerous, too; I’m likely to eat the entire batch!
Me too!! It is very dangerous!!
I hear you on the bananas! Homemade ice cream is so much better…we can’t get enough of it at our house!
Yum! I love ice cream, period. Is there anyway to make it without the need of an ice cream maker?
Yes! There are some recipes that don’t require an ice cream maker. Here are a few that I have collected (I haven’t tried them yet–but I’m sure they are delicious):
Kevin & Amanda: Easy Homemade Ice Cream without a Machine
Two Peas and Their Pod: Banana Peanut Butter Ice Cream
Crumbs and Chaos: Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
Also, if you ever want to borrow my ice cream maker…let me know!! It would be fun for your girls to see watch it churn the ice cream.
